My first WPPI Accolade of Excellence

I usually don’t join photography competitions because I fear and loathe failure, but then I learned that doing this helps me better myself as a photographer. It helps me be more critical of my work and aspire to improve in the future. In 2010 I earned a gold award in wedding photography category for the month of November from the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP, swpp.co.uk). It was a most fulfilling achievement.

Recently I entered the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) competition, but was hard-pressed at deciding which entries to submit. I’d seen all the other entries sent in by other masters, and they were very good — awe-inspiring works based on immensely creative ideas.

Winning a WPPI award is a significant international recognition. It means that your work is among the top of the world, and I’m so proud to say that many Filipino photographers have made their mark in the world. Now I look forward to earn more points next year in different categories (20 points gets you a Master of Photography medal, and I just got my first point). Madami pang kakainin bigas, haha! I also look forward to going to Las Vegas to attend the WPPI convention and learn from the world’s best photographers.

Upgrading… to VR II

It pains to let go of my Nikon 70-200mm VR lens but if I won’t then I am not moving on… not updating and upgrading. So, I sold my Nikon 70-200mm VR and bought Nikon 70-200mm VR II . I am glad I made the purchase because I am happy that this baby could really make awesome pictures… a perfect match for my Nikon D3S body.

It does really perform well. Professional photographers who has switched to using this lens are satisfied they have purchased the product. Pictures are sharper, colors are brighter there are less ghosting and lens flares and really performs better than the previous version. The Nikon 70-200mm II VR is everything they say and more.

It has always been my principle to always look for best ways to serve my clients who trusted me to shoot the most important events in their lives. And in order to give better service, I won’t stop updating and upgrading. I won’t stop learning and acquiring the latest and the best for my clients’ and my own personal satisfaction. I owe it to my clients to stop at nothing but perfection. It is my way of saying “thank you” !

Can’t wait to work with this beast:)

The wedding of Greg and Abz

In all my projects, I always see to it that the ring shot is the “central” image because the ring symbolizes love’s promise which is never-ending, eternal… forever.Ring shots also picture the couple’s personality and for Greg and Abz, Manny Pacquiao’s boxing shoes are made as background for the ring shot because the couple loves boxing. A special “thank you” to TeamPacquiao for giving me the permission to use the boxing shoes the PacMan used during his fight with Manuel Marquez.

The groom, Greg, is an Engineer and Abz is a nurse working abroad. Their wedding was very well planned but there were still glitches which added to the excitement of the event. Abz wedding gown which she ordered in the US was not delivered on time so she was forced to use a replacement bridal gown. The groom also hurt his foot days before the big day but overall, it was still a very beautiful wedding.

I was able to get very good shots of the couple because the camera loves the bride so much. She knows how to strike a pose in front of the cam and same can be said about her groom. I did not find it hard to find their perfect angle that their pictures look simply stunning. One picture I love in this particular wedding is the bridal walk to the altar with butterflies in the background which was released by the children and some guests. It was very beautiful and very unique. To Greg and Abz, thank you! You humbled me with your trust in my ability to tell your wedding story through pictures. I wish you both a very happy married life…forever.

A Very Special Birthday

To most of the people, July 30, 2011 is but an ordinary day but to the family of US-based Enteng & Golda Gonzalez it is the most special date for their most special child. Kryzzelle is a pretty little lady wearing her best smile and her pink Emi Englis gown. The day marks her 18th birthday and what makes it a unique one is that the party was made as an occasion to raise funds for the Autism Society of the Philippines Gensan Chapter of which the parents of the celebrant are active officers . It is one special affair not because of the towering pink fondant cake or sophisticated party atmosphere or the yummy food and drinks served to guests but because of the people who gave their support to the Autism Society for its advocacy of making the people understand Autism and the children who were born Autistics. It was a fun, fun fun evening and also an extra ordinary birthday because everyone who attended the party shared a little of what they have for a good cause. Thank you Glenn Gonzalez who organized the party and to the parents Enteng and Golda who trusted me to cover the affair. It was really a big honor for me to be a part of the one special night for a very special lady, Kryzzelle Gonzalez and for a very special cause. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
