I love photographing weddings because by doing so I become more than just a photographer — I become the family historian.
Photography, as an art, delves into different fields, and wedding photography encompasses this variety. Wedding photography — a mixture of portraiture and fashion photography, marketing and product photography, cuisine photography, even sports photography — is no mean feat as it takes on and marries all of these sub-genres.
I approach this craft to achieve a touch of fashionable flair and contemporary sense, at the same time pouring all effort into my subjects (my clients), albeit not professional models, to make them feel immensely comfortable with the camera and my direction.
It involves structured shots, spontaneous captures photojournalism style, a seemingly self-renewing series of bursts of life as it happens, with you in the middle of it, and I behind the camera, This is storytelling in its vividest and most eloquent. This is your story.
For the last five consecutive years, I have exclusively covered Manny Pacquiao and his family’s personal events in Gensan. I covered Gerald Anderson’s 21st birthday celebration, and Mommy D’s special day for two consecutive years. I also photographed other Gensan celebrities who have excelled in different fields.
In 2010 I earned a Gold Award in Wedding Photography Category for the month of November from the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP, swpp.co.uk), and the Accolade of Excellence in Portrait Individual Category in 2011 WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International). Both were a most fulfilling achievement.
